Reducing primary energy consumption and thus CO2 emissions is the central challenge for achieving the political climate targets. The current trend in medium-sized cities such as Oldenburg and rural areas towards increasing self-sufficient electricity supply through photovoltaic (PV) and small combined heat and power plants (CHP plants) is a first contribution to this. In order to fully exploit the potential of this trend, the electricity, heat and electric mobility sectors must be connected at neighbourhood level and the players involved must be connected to each other.
The Energie-efficient Smart Cities group looks at different aspects of digitalisation, which are becoming increasingly indispensable for the creation of energy-efficient districts and cities. These include:
The group's flagship project is the 'Energetic Neighbourhood Quarter at Oldenburg Air Base' project, in which the practical implementation of an energy-optimised quarter within the scope of the real laboratory at Oldenburg Air Base is aimed at.
